Real International Love in {Canada} - Munaluchi Bridal Magazine

Edith and Kamara?s relationship was like the blossoming of a gorgeous flower. First came the planting of the seed; then, it was time for steady and continuous growth. Eventually, the flower blossomed till it became a masterpiece to behold. :) This breathtaking Canadian wedding was photographed by?Julien Hautcoeur. You?ll be inspired and amazed at the beauty of the location, the perfection that is the bride?s wedding dress, and most importantly, the love this beautiful couple obviously shares.

Bride:?Edith Brumant
Groom:?Kamara Benjamin
Wedding Date:?07.05.2012
Location:?Ceremony?-?Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica; Reception?-?National Art Gallery of Canada, Ottawa

How They Met ?.. ?Edith and Kamara met through Edith?s cousin Osmel, who also happens to be one of Kamara?s best friends. Osmel left his home on the Caribbean island of Antigua, where he met Kamara, to live with Edith?s family in Ottawa, ON, Canada to pursue an undergraduate degree. At the time, Edith was just finishing high school, and Kamara was at the University of Florida. Soon, an online friendship developed between Kamara and Edith. Next, it was texting and occasional phone calls. This long distance friendship that was mostly internet-based finally brought an opportunity to meet face-to-face. The two met at last on a vacation back to Antigua for Carnival in July 2004 and had some great times. At that point, they both knew that, somehow, they had to be part of each other?s lives.?

The Proposal??.. ?They decided to officially enter a relationship in December 2007, while on a trip to New York City. The pair worked hard to maintain a long-distance relationship, while Kamara was working in Trinidad and Boston. Even after Kamara completed his master?s degree at the University of Ottawa, Edith?s alma mater, the long-distance resumed as he moved to Seattle to work at Microsoft. A short trip to New Orleans and Texas in summer 2011 quickly put life into perspective for them and they decided that their love knows no bounds, and that neither time nor space could keep them apart. They had been at each other?s side through the bad times (such as the loss of Edith?s father due to cancer), and the distance that kept the pair apart, as well as the good times that were had in travels and good news like job offers and acceptance into university. This couple had been through it all and realized they were committed to each other more than ever before. Kamara surprised Edith with a quick getaway that October in Orlando, where he proposed on bended knee.?

?

WEDDING DETAILS??..

?The wedding was?a Thursday, a fairly unique day for a wedding. The couple was on the same page when it came to planning and no decision was made without the other. Early on, the colors were decided: yellow and blue. There was no turning back on those colors after Kamara had already arranged for one yellow and one blue sapphire to be placed inside of Edith?s platinum engagement ring. They also knew what they wanted the feel of their special day to be: modern yet classic, bright, stylish, and well-executed. It was a gorgeous afternoon when their vision began to unfold. The Silver Cloud Rolls Royce pulled up to the entrance of the Notre Dame Basilica Cathedral, an architectual masterpiece located in Ottawa?s downtown. As her mother walked her down the aisle, Edith?s dress seemed to float across the floor. Edith designed the florals including her own bouquet which comprised of daisies, gerber daisies, craspedia and ranunculus with a single sunflower as a tribute to her father. While all eyes were on her, she only had eyes for her soon-to-be husband clad in a debonnaire grey suit with a slim black tie who had turned as he felt her presence near, embraced Mrs. Brumant, then delicately kissed Edith?s hand, guiding her up to the altar. Returning to their respective seats were the bridesmaids wearing knee-length duchess satin sapphire dresses, each holding a single long stem sunflower, while the groomsmen wore sophisticated black suits, a tie to match the ladies? dresses and boutonnieres consisting of craspedia and berzelia.

The wedding party took photos in the picturesque Major?s Hill Park, overlooking the Parliament buildings. After that, the newlyweds took a few more photos at the University of Ottawa; then, inside the National Art Gallery of Canada, the reception site. When it came to getting the best prices and keeping expenses within budget, this couple had it in the bag. They made a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of wedding favors, and got great deals with catering, venues, transportation , flowers, etc. Their guests also had free access to view the permanent exhibits in the gallery.

Having their reception in the gallery provided the exact ambience that the couple desired. Their guests were able to view the beautiful scenery as the sun set for the evening through the sky-high glass rotunda where they also danced the night away. There were heartwarming speeches and stories, and great times were had by all as the night rolled on. After such a delectable three course meal, decadent cupcakes, late night savoury treats, and host bar to boot, one would have to agree that this joyous occasion was indeed memorable from beginning to end?

Of course, that?s not the end for this fun-loving couple it?s just the beginning of a lifelong journey side by side at last.?

The last Switched On covered some of the major Switchie awards for the year, but there are many other products to recognize:

The "Category's Meow" Award for Best New Category Creation goes to Supermechanical's TWINE, a small blue box that can relay information about its environment via WiFi to a website. Its fellow Kickstarter project Ninja Blocks followed suit with a more proactive two-way link to pick up an Honorable Mention.

The "Mulligans Do" Award for Best Product Revamp goes to the Apple iPod family. After a bit of staidness in the venerable iPod nano, Apple came back with larger screens and slender profiles on both the iPod nano and iPod touch. Honorable mentions go to the Kindle family of e- readers, particularly the Kindle Paperwhite, and the Samsung Galaxy S line of smartphones from Samsung, which took a huge leap forward with the Galaxy S III.

Food and Drink: Sweetening Up Fruit Recipes

Everyone has heard the five a day slogan in terms of fruits and vegetables, however not very many people really do a good job at actually meeting it. For whatever reason fruits just are not a big part of people's lives, and that's unfortunate. Fruits are actually very important for the body as they are quite beneficial to one's health. Unlike some other health foods, many fruits do actually taste great as well. In fact there are a number of simple fruit recipes out there that are both easy to make and taste great.

Instead of just having a boring apple in the morning before work, why not enjoy something with lunch with one of these great fruit recipes?

Apricots aren't necessary something people will have commonly, but they taste great and make a delicious snack. For those who have a bit of a sweet tooth, mixing a bit of honey, sugar and a cinnamon stick in with apricots can create a tasty sauce. Pour it over some yogurt for a snack or over frozen yogurt for dessert. If you are already a fan of chicken for dinner, try adding a little extra flavor by spicing it up with pomegranates and blackberries. After grilling the chicken, add a sauce consisting of pomegranate juice, brown sugar, molasses, blackberries and if you prefer garlic, ginger and red pepper. It's sure to how a fresh fruit recipe take on the old classic of chicken for dinner.

For a quick breakfast in the morning, skip the buttered toast and instead make your own spread out of strawberries. All you need to make it is sugar, water, lemon zest and juice as well as the strawberries. It can be saved in a container in the refrigerator allowing for multiple uses throughout the week. Not only does it taste great, but it is also a healthy way to start off in the morning. One of the easiest ways to up your fruit intake is by whipping up a fruit salad. Mixing together blueberries, raspberries and apples can make for great fruit recipes.

If you are not quite in the mood to really prepare something, the best way to eat more fruit is usually just to find something that you like and actually want to eat. There are so many different kinds of fruit out there that it's not hard to find something. In the summer, the abundance of watermelon is a beacon of good times and importantly also counts towards your total fruit count for the day.

When in doubt, look online for some fresh fruit recipes and try your hand at something new. Even if it does not come out quite as you had expected at least it is a new experience in the kitchen. It is never a bad thing to at least give it a try and skip the boring routine of quickly chomping down on a single piece of boring fruit a few times a day. Even if you've found a single piece that you love, it can still be found to see what else is out there.

Baltazar, Romania banker, ex-gov't spokesman, dies

BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) ? A hospital spokesman says influential banker Bogdan Baltazar, who became Romania's first government spokesman after communism collapsed, has died. He was 73.

Valentin Calu said Baltazar had been suffering from cancer and that he died at Elias Hospital in Bucharest on Friday.

Baltazar led a privileged life under communism, studying at the City University in New York in the 1960s.

He was later accused of having been recruited by the Communist secret police, the Securitate ? a charge he never denied.

He became well-known as the spokesman in 1990 for Prime Minister Petre Roman, and journalists described him as full of humor and charm, as well as prone to off-the-cuff remarks.

Baltazar was director of the French-owned Romanian Development Bank from 1998 to 2004.

He is survived by his wife.

New Home Sales in November

In each Economic Update, the Research staff analyzes recently released economic indicators and addresses what these indicators mean for REALTORS? and their clients. Today?s update discusses the latest new home sales data.

Sales of newly constructed homes rose in November by 4.4 percent from the prior month, and are higher by 15.3 percent from one year ago. The 377,000 annualized sales pace is the highest in nearly 3 years. However, there is ample room for further improvement to get us back to the pre-housing-bubble sales pace of 900,000 or so.
The median price of new homes jumped by 15 percent to $246,200. Higher copper and lumber prices are no doubt partly driving up the price of a newly built home. The faster rise in new home prices, with a widening gap against existing home prices, could be a forerunner for potential catch-up price gains for existing homes in upcoming years.
The inventory of newly constructed homes remains essentially at a 50-year low. Homebuilders need to ramp up production even further. Large national builders are tapping Wall Street funds to up construction activity. However, small local builders are having a difficult time obtaining construction loans.
On a technical note, this new home sales data are contract signings and not closings. Also, only single-family homes are included and not condos.

Photography exhibits at the Asia Society challenge self-perception ...

Tell us about yourself!

That's the invitation for those who make it into the current exhibition at the Asia Society Texas Center, and hundreds of visitors have taken the offer to heart. You can view their self-impressions along with their photos at the Grand Hall of the Texas?Center's new home in the Museum District. Even more responses can be found on the Center's website?and social media platforms.?

The actual question is "What Are You?" and, since it's tied to a photo exhibition by the gifted photographer and filmmaker Kip Fulbeck and built on the concept of the book by the same name,?part?asian, 100% hapa (HOP-ah, a Hawaiian word meaning of mixed racial heritage with partial roots in?Asian or Pacific Islander ancestry), one might think it's drawing those Americans who are part Asian. But it welcomes and has attracted all "kinds" of Houstonians who might answer the question with "German-English," "Bankruptcy Attorney" or "Mother," or something entirely different, sentimental or funny.

?"It has been a great interactive project and very educational in teaching about diversity."?

"It has been a great interactive project and very educational in teaching about diversity," says Jordan Dupuis, development coordinator at the Center. He took the show for a preview outing in October at an interactive booth at the Texas Contemporary Art Fair ? and it was a hit. "People were very engaged by the project. It draws people in and gets them thinking about how they define themselves."

You can't tell how people will respond based on age or looks, Dupuis says ? sometimes you get very thoughtful responses and sometimes more whimsical ones. "Some were very intense and very interesting in their answers; some were comical."

A few of our favorites among the current shots at the Center include the rather proper-looking lady who writes, no surprise: "British." The happy-looking man who writes: "I am making cancer history!" with a line drawn through "cancer." The young woman who wrote: "I'm 25% Chinese, 75% Viet. 100% Sunshine!" And the dapper gentleman who wrote: "I am 100% Chinese born living the American dream to the fullest with the most beautiful Mexican American woman by my side."

"The interactive component of the exhibition provides a forum for the exploration of Houston's cultural landscape, and truly reinforces the diversity and multiculturalism that have made Houston a microcosm of the entire country," says Patsy Brown, the Center's communication director. "Perhaps someone's statement will spark something of commonality elsewhere."?

Kip Fulbeck?will be at the Center on Jan. 12 at 3 p.m. for an artist talk?and to take photographs of Houstonians himself. For a glimpse of what you can expect to experience, you can view him?on YouTube delivering a commentary both witty and serious on race and identity.

Additional programs complementing the exhibition will also be presented at the Asia Society Texas Center in 2013. To name a few: The screening of experimental shorts from the Dallas Film Festival Experimental on Jan. 25; a Family Day with storytelling and portraiture activities on Feb. 24; and a talk with Yul Kwon, PBS host and winner of Survivor: Cook Islands, on April 4. ?

The Fulbeck portrait exhibition is free, as is visitor participation.?Those who wish to see a second exhibition also tied to the concept should see the groundbreaking exhibition Portraiture Now: Asian American Portraits of Encounter, which originated as the first Asian in America exhibition by the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery. It includes the work of seven artists and an invigorating collection of paintings, drawings, videos and more that give a preview into the not-so-demure direction of modern Asian artists.

Both shows will run through April 14, 2013. Visit the Asia Society Texas Center Tuesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closed Mondays and all major holidays). Admission to the building is free, with a $5 exhibition entry fee for all non-members.

Broncos to finish season in style

The difference Peyton Manning has made in Denver actually is measurable.

Try from 8-8, which the Broncos were a year ago in winning the AFC West, to 12-3. Try losing their final three games of 2011 and sneaking into the back door of the playoffs to winning their last 11 and moving into the postseason as the NFL's best team.

Those are the numbers, along with Denver (No. 1 in the AP Pro32) being a 16-point favorite over Kansas City (No. 32, AP Pro32), which is 2-13.

What Manning has brought to the Broncos in swagger, confidence and performance that has been impressive even by the four-time league MVP's standards.

Don't look for any temporary respite in any of those areas against the weak Chiefs.

"We talk about that a lot, not coasting, pedal downhill," coach John Fox said. "I appreciate him. I think that's a big reason why he's accomplished what he's accomplished, whether it's here or in Indianapolis. He's a tremendous competitor, doesn't let up. I think that's how you need to be to be successful."

Few teams have been more successful this season than the Broncos. Kansas City has no chance Sunday.
